We would like to reassure you that at JAMortgage.co.uk we are taking every precaution to protect your personal details and identity. In view of this, we are pleased to be able to offer the opportunity to conduct mortgage meetings using an application called Zoom. You don’t need to have a Zoom account to join a meeting.

Zoom uses 256-bit AES encryption which includes:
- All calls have unique ID numbers and are password protected
- Control over who joins a meeting to prevent unauthorised participants
- The ability to record meetings for future reference
What Do I Need for a Zoom Meeting – Finance Documents and Credentials
In case you’re unfamiliar with Zoom, we have a 4-step guide available with detailed instructions to help you prepare for a meeting.
What do I need for the video meeting?
- A quiet / private place where you can focus on the call and tested headphones if you have them
- Ideally, only have Zoom open on your computer and close any private files
- Please have any relevant documents to hand so that we can refer to them during the meeting
- A good connection via WIFI, preferably not in a public location (Cafe/coffee shop etc)
We recommend that you join the meeting a few minutes ahead of time to enable us to maximize our time together and to ensure that the Zoom call is connected and working.
Once we have completed our free mortgage Q&A session, we can continue to catch up via phone and email as we usually do, although we believe you will get more out of our meeting by using this recommended approach.
We look forward to connecting with you via Zoom soon. If you have any questions in the meantime, please do contact me by calling me on 07833 430039 or send me a message out of office hours using my Contact Form.

Mortgage Affordability in a Post-lockdown world – August 2020
Back in March, the Bank of England slashed the Bank Rate to an all-time low of 0.1% in a bid to help alleviate some of the severe economic pressure caused by the pandemic. As the interest rate cut fed through to mortgage rates, lenders pulled some products from the market.
Many of the products withdrawn were high loan-to-value (LTV) deals (i.e. those requiring a smaller deposit) as lenders were concerned that a potential drop in house prices could push high LTV borrowers into negative equity.
Lenders remain cautious
When the property market reopened for business in May, several lenders relaunched higher LTV deals and products aimed specifically at first time buyers, such as Help to Buy loans. However, in early June, many high LTV products were withdrawn again, due to high demand.
With the property market in the early stages of recovery, it’s worth being proactive and maximizing your chances of mortgage approval. Follow these tips to help improve your chances:
- Save as much as you can – many of us are spending a great deal less than usual. Having a higher deposit will increase your chances of mortgage success.
- Clear your debt – clearing as much debt as possible, as well as closing any unused accounts, will increase lenders’ confidence in your ability to repay your mortgage.
- Understand your credit score – the better your credit rating, the higher the likelihood you’ll be accepted for the most competitive mortgage deals.
- Self-employed? Keep excellent records – having excellent records of your earnings over the past two or three years (depending on the lender) can really improve your chances.
- Consult the experts – we can help you find a mortgage deal that gives you the highest chance of a successful application and suits your individual circumstances.
